Can someone point us to some evidence that either the EU or Edinburgh is planning to ban older cars?

They're not, as posted on the other thread about this, the closest thing found was some German cities that are planning to ban cars from the centre on up to 35 days per year when air quality is very poor. Vehicles are to be graded on emmissions, old or classic cars are not specifically targetted at all, it's just that their emmissions are bound to be poorer and that was purely coincidental. It's not like there is any deliberate malice aforethought aimed just at classics. It appeared that on bad pollution days, all vehicles would be banned from the centre of town anyway.

The petition is just like the Red Arrows one we had recently about them being scrapped, when it was in fact, bollox.

Can't believe this one - so this is what BLIAR has been up to since announcing it's time to go!

Thanks for putting the thread on.

Then don't believe it - have you seen any evidence?

Read BG above.

Blair doesn't have anything better to do with his time. I mean he doesn't he exactly have to run a car, or pay for the No.10 now does he?

Just read that Stuttgart has exempted Classics from its proposed environmental zones, other German towns are expected to follow, but they've not set anything up yet anyway. Been reading that Rome and other cities in Italy are ignoring any regs that have been set up, mainly because so many Fiat 500's are still in use around town. Also in the USA, Arizona has exempted classics from any environmental regulations on the ground that their numbers are not significant. Other US states are to do likewise. Still no sign of any links to demonstrate that the Edinburgh proposal is anything to worry about.

I live in Edinburgh and had no idea of this! So much about consultation!

This city is as bad as Red Ken's London - they hate cars.
