Sound observations. I have fond memories of watching Schanche, Gollop et-al acting like total loonies around Brands on a Saturday afternoon.

As evidence this clip shows a a grid full of 700bhp 4wd cars taking off. Probably the fastest starting cars ever.

Outrageous power, mixed surfaces, vaguely identifiable cars, a good crash and Muddy Talker in the commentary box. What's not to like.

Get it back on the telly. I'll get the beers in.

Rallycross's competitor on the BBC would be darts or snooker.

How many viewers do those sports get?

The writer makes some very good points, the only downside I can see is that when I watched some rallycross on Race and Rally UK the other day there were only about 4 cars on track - a far cry from Rallycross of old.

If there are normally more competitors then I'd say it would succeed on TV, if not........

There should have been six but two had been trashed in earlier races.

Although you're right, that is a problem with rallycross. The grids do vary in size quite dramatically.

But, perhaps if it was properly televised the money would be there for drivers to repair their cars.
