Wiring loom & ECU for 1993 4.3 BV
Discussion
Looking for wiring loom & ECU for 1993 4.3 BV. Due to car having been standing for sometime prior to it having lashings of attention, the drivers side foot well became a bath tub.
The wiring has become brittle and prone to breaking. The ECU was full of water, which drained out ok and dried out having disconnected and leaving it sitting on the top of an AGA cooker overnight (not cooking it!
)
Therefore if anyone has the parts or knows where I can possibly get them I'd be extremely grateful.

I'd take the chip out of the ECU, thats the important (unique?) bit.

Are you sure the chip is unique in a BV?? I doubt it.. but have nothing to base that on other than a plain guess.. these cars use AFM's and they measure the amount of air going in a put the right amount of fuel in(well they should do) big valves just means more air.. but you'd need an expert to confirm this...
I have a full engine loom from a 4.3 (if you think it makes any difference
). I got it from a mate when I was chasing some gremlins around my engine bay, but never needed it... Edited by Griffsmith on Thursday 26th April 23:11
I would be surprised if TVR used the same map for the different cams fitted in 430's and 430BV's - it is possible some did. Its pretty dangerous to say anything is definitive tho
I'm pretty sure that Phers have reported chip & cam cam changes when they have had BV upgrades done in Coventry.
The 430 loom you have is likely to be most suitable I would have thought tho (luckily many of the 430s have more similarities than the other cars - poss/prob due to limited production duration)...

There are different chips for 4.3 cat and non-cat, and variants of the 500 as well. Although the system uses an afm, it's an imperfect system - otherwise we'd all be running Land Rover chips!
TVR Power do all the original TVR chips for about £80.
A 'proper' 4.3 ecu for £150+ carriage is a good deal. The alternative is to build one from a suitable Range Rover ecu by swapping the RR chip for an EPROM socket, then obtaining a TVR chip and plugging it in, which is what I did. Unless you can be sure your original chip is undamaged, this will end up costing you £150 anyway. So I'd go for the 4.3 ecu on offer - it'll run with your BV, then a RR session will tell you how urgently you need to swap the chip for a BV one - if at all.
Incidentally, my 4.3 makes more power on a 500 chip - so I think it likely a BV would benefit from a BV chip - if one is available.

Hi
As far as I know they all look identical so don't think sending a picture would enlighten you much. It's a 14CUX black box ECU. It looks just the same as the original one in my Griffith 4.3 precat. I've tried it in my own car in the past for several weeks while I sent my original off for a Tornado chip to be fitted.
