I have always like Flavio, ever since he came into the sport with Benetton. Despite the sport or business we all love being non fan focussed at present, Flavio has always tried his best to steer the rest towards making the whole event more enjoyable for all of us to watch.

He's always been at the forefront of major issues that I feel would dramatically change F1 for the better, but becuase he is not a 'racer' like so many down the pitlane, I feel his ideas are sometimes lost.

It is Flavio who continues to champion the thoughts of bringing F1 closer to the fans, banning all testing (making Friday an official test day for all teams instead) restricting costs and above all else, making F1 enjoyable to watch.

He may not be a racer, but he's a very successful businessman outside the world of F1. If Bernie was to quit (sooner rather than later) I truly feel that Flavio would be the right man for F1 and I really do believe his fresh approach could herald a new and exciting era of F1 racing...

Amusing but not at all enlightening.

I have been following Flav's comments for many years with interest as I actually believe that he will be one of the main players to take over from BCE, if he decides he still wants to be involved.

This is the latest in a long line of 'ideas' he has voiced. Maybe not his most sensible but then Bernie keeps making the odd unusual suggestion. Both are very good politicians and know that what they say today might just stir up a nest to enable them to do what they really want to.

If we are talkingof f1's future are we asking if it will be in safe hands with FB or will it continue to be ridiculously expensive ever more detatched from true fans, not that interecsting to watch, because more wings on cars means more room to advertise etc etc etc.

F1 as it was in the days of Ken Tyrell etc was exciting as you never knew quite what was coming next, fan cars skirts etc, but now there is never anything that radical that is all that interesting to look at.
personaly I think all sport has been ruined by money and Flav will very definatly be looking out for flav!! Hero he aint.

Do you really? Have you read the piece?

I agree with the general sentiment that Flav's approach blends business sense with a feel for providing entertainment for the fans, but does he really have the passion that BCE has to keep pushing when those around him disagree with him and push back hard?

He'd also have to have a translator - FlavEnglish is truly something to behold - if you've ever heard him off camera, his use of good old anglo-saxon expletives is superb!

I think if Flav was is charge of F1 it wouldn't be long before he was team principal of every team and manager to every driver..........

.......and paddock passes were only issued to models.

Flavio would make the sport entertaining, and that's what matters for the fans and for the sponsors. It's that italian flair I guess.

Uncle Ron would make a good figurehead for the sport, and has championed the safety angle religiously during his time at McLaren, however may turn the sport into a bit of a nerdy tech fest that could drive some viewers (followed by sponsors) away.

That's it them.

Ron and Flav.

A bit like Laurel and Hardy!
