I have just been quoted for my insurance on my canam, £940 (MSN). I am 30 and have a second driver on, 32.both no points. The car has a Cat 1 alarm. Has any one else had any recent quotes in the last few months?

Not grumbling about the price, far from it, just wondering if recent events have effected others premiums.

Cheers

John

J-K Yes, started 2 years ago with approx £500, now £595 and just renewed so third payment. I have 10 years on you though plus sole driver on limited mileage to 10,000. Your premium is not bad compared to what it could be and there have been a few accidents over the last year due to inexperience; remember poor old Tuckshop with his woks. l wonder what happened to him and his car.
There was an insurance thread a few months ago if you have the time/inclination to look for it.

Renewed mine in March. It went from £650 to £700. Thats a 5k a year mileage and £30k cover. I'm 35 with no accidents/convictions & loads of training.

Your postcode can have a big impact. Even an adjoining roads postcode can be different.

Just got a quote in from Footman James for £655, £40k value, ltd mileage (4500 miles pa). Me and wife as named drivers, both over 35. I think the AB31 postcode has helped.
Incidently, anyone know how to deal with the issue of immobiliser fitment certificate? I put a Cat 1 immobiliser in during the build. Can I complete the installation cert myself, or is it only valid for insurance purposes if completed by a registered alarm engineer?

It has to be a dealer.
The one I am buying mine from is happy for me to do the install and will inspect it afterwards, at nil cost, then do the cert.

Think yourself lucky, I got a quote for NZ$8000/yr (2500 quid), just under 30, full no claims (with a history of powerful cars), approved alarm, etc.

Made me think again about importing one

Hmmm, my best quote so far is with Footman James and is for an un-justified £2100! and that is just for 3000 miles I have one conviction, I am IAM registered, and full protected NCB with no accidents.

The company which previously gave me a discount for the IAM won't touch me with the one conviction so they both cancel each other out.

Unfortunately for me the only place I can garage my Ult does not have a favourable postcode with the insurance companies. It is beginning to look as if I may have to garage the Ult some distance away to enable a lower premium. It's still daylight robbery though considering that I am 37.

£2100 - ouch! Where? Baghdad? What was the conviction?

People may have full ncd but you do not transfer this over to the policy. The insurance co. just want proof of ncd to give their own discount. This may not be the same percentage.
