Mrs N has an X type which she loves and I have a Monaro.

Just considering a change and am thinking about an XKR - I actually think I prefer the old shape tbh.

What should I look out for and what sort of owning experiences have you good folk had?

Cheers

Check out and join www.xkec.co.uk for all the info you will ever need on both the old and new XK's and a great bunch of friendly owners.

For a few quid you can go on Amazon and buy Haynes book "You and your XK8 - buying, enjoying, modifying" by Nigel Thorley. That should tell you everything you need to know about the last model XK8/R. If you like sitting in it you will like driving it. I think the new one has sorted out most of the perceived faults of the last model, other than the fact that the rear seats are virtually unusable. Great cars either way.

And by the way, don't pay any attention to posts by someone on this website going by the name of Kinjachris. He seems to have a bee in his bonnet and what he describes as his experiences don't seem to be typical.

I saw a friend's new XKR drophead at the weekend, in red with beige leather black hood and 20" wheels. It is a good looking car my friend, whatever they say on XKEC. So by the way is the last one.

I recently bought 4.2S of old model XKR convertible and am generally pleased with car.I chose old model due to larger boot as I use car for holidays.I handles well without being in class of previous TVR but rides better.Performance is more than adequate.
I luckily found car with optional Recaro seats which are just superb.
I do not regret my choice

It's only a minority on the XKEC that don't like the new XK. I also saw a lovely new one on the JEC London-Brighton run, Salsa Red convertible with the new Jaguar body-kit and exhaust trims, and I must say it looked fabulous.

Yes I think that the recaro seats are worth having. I have the standard sports seats which are good, but not just as supportive. Sounds like a NICE motor tvron.
