I really want a Skyline...

...but I've only got this BMW...

This has to be one of the more unusual replicas we’ve featured on PH. Seems this particular E36 BMW owner had an itch for the R34 Nissan Skyline GTR that just needed scratching. At least there’s the possibility that they share the same engine configuration…

What's with the indoors portable TV aerial on the front?

That really is an odd thing to do: guess it just goes to show what the Mondeo-outselling 3-series has become - a donor vehicle for those who aspire to Nissans.

Are these stories really PH material. Sadly they bore me to tears - lets have some insightful journalism that PH used to be renowned for.

I must say he's done a pretty good job of that, had to look really closely to see hints of E36.

And maybe a little effort putting the pics in the right order.

I don't mind these articles at all but the quality and flow of news on PH does appear to have slumped.

would have thought that for the amount it would have cost him to do all that, he could have got a real R33 gtr and not looked like a prat all at the same time.

SAD-hardly even a showcase for bodywork skills as you can't tell what quality it is.

Think it's the intercooler water spray...although this faker probably isn't running boost anyhow

Actually it looks remarkably like a cryogenic system (dumps freezing cold CO2 over the intercooler instead of just tepid water)

Would love to watch that (im guessing it's a 316i?) vs that 1300 BHP Skyline featured on Pistonheads last week.

No, its one of those special bulb things they have in chip shops to kill flies. Ideal for country lanes at night

When was that? Back in the Triassic period of Petrol Teds rants, when PH actually did it's own road tests?

Hasn't been much journalism in the news stories since then, aside from mainly copy and pasted press releases.

Agreed. I'm sure that the owner is proud of their new monster but I'm afraid with this one I just don't get it. The article doesn't specify where this car is, so it makes me wonder if this is a country where BMs are common and GT-Rs are exotic and unobtainable. Unfortunately I can't think of such a place right now.

Personally I'd never have thought of combining these two particular cars but if forced to at gunpoint I'd probably have chosen to put a 3 series body on Skyline running gear, not the other way around... No accounting for taste though. I once saw a Nissan Sunny Coupe and thought "ooh that looks nice", so who am I to judge?

For the money he spent on it he could have imported a 400bhp+ R32 Skyline.

Hell if you're desperate, get a 2.0t Skyline and put a GTR kit on it, that would still be quicker than a 316i...
