Being a patriotic sort I normally like to see our clubs beating Johnny Foreigner. However being also a Liverpool fan could I stand the thought of losing to Man U in the final? Much less painful if we lost to Milan.
Its a bastard!

The only thing to be patriotic about nowadays - in terms of football clubs - are the postcodes of the grounds.

Most teams are full of "Johnny Foreigners".

Aah but just think of the massively smug gloating you could do if the scousers were to beat the mancs!

Don't worry, if United progress we have the same dilemma.

It would just make winning so much more sweeter than normal - but a loss would leave suicides all over the place.

But why should you support an English team?

I support a team who didn't make it to the Champions League. Those teams that do will get more cash than my team so will be able to buy better players in the summer, making my team even less likely to compete with them next season. I want all the English teams to crash out of the Champion League as early as possible.

It would be most satisfying to do the treble over Liverpool this season to win our second Treble.

I agree with that. After all, it is a club competition not a national one. If Man Utd don't make it, I shall not support Liverpool as they are not my club.

Well there you go. I am sure most English football fans would rather see an English club win the cup. However it is understandable why a Manc fan would draw the line at Liverpool and vice versa.

That's a fair point - if it was somebody like Bolton v AC Milan in the final, I think I'd be behind Bolton. But Liverpool is just pushing it a bit too far!
