Ok so since I moved south I've noticed some funny place names here in Kent:

E.G.

Thong
Twydal (pron. 'twiddle')
Basted
Wildernesse

Anyone else got any to add? Could be interesting!

Back home in the lakes there is 'Cockermouth'.

You can guess how it used to be referred

There's a place in Devon called Tincleton.

Not particualrly funny when written down but its pronounced "Ting-tong"....rofl
