Remember the Great and British Mini Festivals that were held at a couple of circuits last year? Well due to their popularity, they are being run again and the first one is at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday (May 28th). Being a Mini fan I've just been sent the details. I'll be there and last year when I went to Brands there were about 100 Minis on track for the lunchtime parade.

Incidentally there are Radicals and the new Sports Maxx Cup races too.

Here are the details sent to me. Hope to see some of you there.

Bank Holiday Monday 28th May - There will be the opportunity for all Mini owners (classic and new) to drive the circuit at lunchtime in a parade lap. In the past this has been very popular with in excess of 100 Mini touring around waving at the crowd. Also everyone will receive a Dunlop winners cap for taking part. There will also be a special parking area and the chance to see the Mini Challenge cars up close and chat drivers during the grid walk that takes place after the parade.

The event is called 'The Dunlop Great and British Mini festival' and features six races where Minis will be competing - there are two races for the Mini Challenge, featuring the modern Cooper and Cooper S cars, the Dunlop Mini Miglia and Dunlop Mini Seven championship races, plus there will also be Minis competing in the two multi-marque Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup rounds. A full timetable can be found at www.barc.net/competitors/race_timetables/hq0715-01.php

I'm marshalling at the Dunlp G&B on the Monday after doing the Sat & Sun at the new Anglesey. Looks like it's going to be another busy weekend for me.

HiQ, the nationwide fast fit network, is running a promotion that gets you free race day tickets.

If you advance purchase a Dunlop BTCC ticket for the Oulton Park race on june 24th, you get a free ticket for the Oulton Park Dunlop Great and British Festival, featuring Britcar, the new Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup, the Mini Challenge and Radicals on Bank Holiday Monday May 28th

All you have to do is pick up a voucher from any of HiQ branches in the North West and type the code number in when ordering the BTCC tickets. If you buy 5 BTCC tickets, this could get you £60 of Great and British Tickets for free!

Thanks for the info Redlake27, I think I'm going to be doing that. It's not often that you get something back from motorsport. I enjoy the G and B events because of the interaction, the fact that as a spectator you can get involved. I've yet to see a boring race either. Looking forward to it.

We thought of that, but decided to just do Anglesey.

I have been contacted by a few of you that have had problems getting these vouchers from HiQ branches.

Sorry, we are running out in some stores. For the remaining last few days of the promotion you can quote reference GD07 at the Oulton website or Croft hotline to get the free tickets.

Just a further word of info on the Mini parade. I've heard from the circuit that all Minis will have their own parking area overlooking Clay Hill, so we'll get a great view of the racing from there and can even sit in the cars to watch if it's raining... The parade lap is going to start from there too so we don't have to troop off anywhere at lunchtime. Should be great!

Strange, not had my tickets/instructions yet and I'm off to Anglesey tonight so looks like I won't be getting them at all - unless the arrive tomorrow morning and I can pick them up on my way over to Oulton?

I know it's a BARC event, but I sent in my volunteering form via BRSCC NW, so have contacted both to see!

Some fantastically close qualifying times from the Mini Challenge, a very varied grid of Britcars in the late afternoon enduro and a fascinating top 4 on the grid for the Sport Maxx Cup (the more nimble Megane R26 pipping the more powerful two Nissan 350Zs and Astra VXR)
It should be a great day of racing on Monday.
