In-car phone in my XJR
Discussion
On another matter from my mega-post on the problems with my XJR, was wondering if anyone can shed some light on an in-car phone in my XJR and getting it working.
The car came with a Nokia car-phone-cradle, you can just see it in the bottom left corner of the picture:
I figured out it's for an old Nokia 6310, and have acquired one of these, but when I put it in, it doesn't work. If I press the PHONE button on the radio control panel, it says "No Phone". If I call it, it just rings, and doesn't route the sound to the speakers.
Any ideas how this is supposed to work?
I also noticed some holes and cut-outs in the central arm-rest storage space, with wiring and connectors visible underneath... I understand the Jaguar-provided in-car phone goes in here... But not sure if the previous owner may have taken some bits out of here, which would render the cradle next to the gear stick inoperable?
Thanks guys.

The Jaguar system is for the Jaguar phone system and your Nokia cradle is nothing to do with it. The kit you have is after market and cannot be made to work with the conrols although the steering wheel button can be used to mute the radio. Older cars were fitted with a special Motorola 8700 that only works with Vodaphone/O2.

I had a Nokia cradle like the one in the pic, and when it rang it would cut the radio, and ring through the speakers - I could also answer off the steering wheel.

I had an XKR with the Jaguar phone installed , its just a motorola startac , but if you buy a normal startac you miss some functions .
So you have to buy the phone from Jaguar , it works well in the car but the startac is a crappy phone
I know the Nokia cradle is nothing to do with the Jaguar phone, but being fitted in the car, surely it must've been connected to the system in some way. I was just wondering if anyone knew how it's supposed to be operated. I know there's a Nokia 6310 (gold and black) and 6310i (silver), and there are minor differences between these two phones... I have the 6310... I'm wondering if that could be it, if the cradle was meant to work with a 6310i...
