....When my tank is fuller (more than 1/2)the needle doesnt move down as quick on my XJRV8 as it does when the tanks only 1/4 full or less???

I think this is true of almost every car I've ever driven.
I remember on my old Cavalier the top half of the tank was good for well over 300 miles, whilst the bottom half gave 200 if you were lucky. That was the last car I ever ran out of fuel in, not that I was trying to test the fuel gauge.

It's a con trick by the Chancellor to make you think your full tank of overtaxed fuel is really good value for money....

Count yourself lucky. In the TVR I can go from 3/4 full to 1/4 full just going round a roundabout. I find myself really chucking it round left hand bends just to try and get it back. Funny thing is it never really gets back to where it started.

I think it's just one of those things really. Same as the fact that when you fill it up the computer tells you it'll be 300 miles before you need to do it again, but it never actually is.
