A couple of weeks ago, I posted a thread about vandals putting circly scratches on my car.

Well it's happened again, and you know what?? Not vandals after all, but CATS.

There are scratches on one of the wings, scratches on the roof and a couple on the engine cover. The scratches are in sets of 4 or 5, each scratch about 7 mm parallel to the others.

Seems cats like the Noble, try to jump up onto the front wing, scrabble to get grip, over the roof and curl up on the engine cover (probably cos it's warm). Shiny polished plastic means they have to use their claws. Caught one of them up there - cue more scratches when trying to get away sharpish...

Now this doesn't happen to my mate's TVR. Perhaps I need a louder exhaust to scare them away????

At least it wasn't jealous scum, eh???

Good (but still bad) news.

There are many "cat away" granules that you can get - sprinkle them around where you leave the car and it'll keep them away - check out your local garden centre.

There is also a "fake" cat that's just a big black outline with shiny glass eyes that's meant to keep them away as well.

You are welcome to borrow my Swizol scratch remover paste if you want to - let me know.

This doesn't work, either for cats or birds, cos I had one in my garden. Eventually got nicked by magpies

My TVR also got scratched by an effing great cat - managed to gouge a few scratches into the rear wing just next to the boot (one of them 1mm deep!)
It jumped up, couldn't get a grip, scrabbled around & fell off, scratching it in the process

How the hell did they lift that away - it must weight a pound or so.

There are some rather cool ideas on here www.tmac.clara.co.uk/urgring/faqcats1.htm - the best one has to be the water spray coupled with a PIR sensor

I have heard there are companies who sell a product to keep cats away based on big cats droppings (alternatively ring up your local zoo!)...apparently the little ones can tell the scent of their bigger, scarier relatives and soon don't come within a mile.

Ah yes , a dollop of tiger turd on each extremity should work wonders. During the Raj I can remember the same trick performing a damn fine job of keeping the servants off the memsahib.

Well if my scratches are what a tiddly pussy cat can do, then I'm buggered if I'm enticing a full-on tiger on top of the thing to crap on it
