Since the tail lights of an S or from a Ford Escort I assume there are white tail lights available for that car. Not that I've seen one. I'v been surfing to find something about it, but no results.
I think it would look nice on the back of an S because it looks a bit dull. On the other hand, the front is fan-tas-tic.

I wanted to change the rear aspect of the S to my own tastes so went with the dark lights...

I have seen a dark green S at the Dorset meetings with the white tail lights. I dont know if the owner lurks on here....

Personally I prefer the darker lights (ala Shnozz) but I have seen the clear rear lights... and seem to recall I've seen the pic in a profile on PH...

Yeah, C14PPY (V8S) Has the clear tail lights. The car was for sale in the classifieds a week or so ago, it's also got a chrome roll bar and 16" Chimeara alloys at the rear (15's at the front) Car looked good - check out the profile under C14PPY on the gassing station.

You should be able to get the lights from any car mod shop like Halfords etc. Or order from Max Power / Fast Ford Magazines - imagine they will be c.£40 each.

I also went for the smoked effect rears from Nomad Racing (code 904), very similar to Shnozz's except that mine have an internal orange insert for the indicators so that you can use a standard clear bulb (these are the only ones that Nomad do now). Halfords also do similar sets but theirs are about £75 instead of £40 from Nomad.

You can get the white lights (see here - code TAIL07) although you'll also need coloured bulbs, and I think some of the sets don't have the necessary markings for use in the UK.

IMHO, the smoked lights look good on the darker cars, so the white lights might suit lighter cars better.

Marcello,

C14PPY comes up in my search. The guy is called Darren Clapp, and his car is for sale on the classifieds page, 1991 V8S £11k, with some good pictures. I got his number from the ad. 07970209936. If you run a search, under C14PPY, TVR (all) and All dates, you should get his details. Failing that just email him from the classified advert!!

Doug,

Whereabouts did you find the pictures? I couldn't find any on the classified ad, in Darren's profile or in the car profile.

The pictures are with the advert. Homepage, Classifieds, TVR, S Series, then about 5/6 cars down is the advert, with 4 pics attached. (Its c.20 days old)

Are you normally able to get the pics on your machine?

Thanks,

I had a look at the JPG . Well... I like the smokey tail lights a lot more. This looks like a self paint job. I meant another kind of clear tail lights. Some Cimaera's have them and also a Lexus is often equipped with them. It looks like a clear glass with coloured separate lights for Brake, reverse etc...
I'll see if I can find a picture.

Cheers,
Marcel

I was using an old bookmark to the S classifieds which was missing the p=1 parameter from the URL - this parameters causes the ads to be displayed in a different format and, lo and behold, the picture appears!

IMHO ...

Agreed, clear lights are nasty.

Dark lights seem nice on cars with dark paint.

I have to say, I do prefer the smoked lenses, but then I would say that wouldn't I?

(Where's Qualia? He's normally extolling the virtues of the mica blue/smoked lens combination by now! )

Bit more GRP work involved in switching to those!
