Discussion
One more wedding tomorrow and my dear old Austin burbles off to a new home on Monday. The new owner has hired a transport company to pick it up and get it to Cheshire.
So much to my better halfs dismay I am on the look out for something old and interesting in the form of 4 wheels. I doubt if it will be a Merc Darren, unless I can find a good pre 1930 jobbie at a bargain price at auction!

No, you're thinking of the Hotchkiss-Overstrand 'Destructor' (the later mode with epicyclic pinion bearings).
Didn't the earlier one have the overvalve pushrod inverters and the hydro under flange circuit oscillators or am I thinking of a different car?
Yes different car Paul, I think you were thinking of the Hatchkiss 3 seater it had circuit flanged hydro electronic side valves with oscillating pushrods, but inverted.

Not pre 1930, but how's about tackling this one, David?

Sounds like one of Simpos' made up names
No, you're thinking of the Hotchkiss-Overstrand 'Destructor' (the later mode with epicyclic pinion bearings). Easy mistake - the two Hotchkiss companies are commonly confused.
yes, you are clearly showing gaps in your knowledge, the Hotchkiss-overstrand destuctor was the product of the ill fated joining of Hotchkiss and Morris cars in the 1930's....... dads one is 1920's, so is french and gorgeous!
the car is quite a project is basically a restored rolling chassis (but all in bits), with a choice of bodywork. it comes with the remains of the original coupe body which was cut off behind the doors, and turned into a lorry by the germans during the war. it also comes with the remains of a body that was originally fitted to a Ballot. both of the bodies require a lot of work!
however, should the project ever get finished, you'll end up wth a fine vintage car, that could look something like this.....

Oh yes, a deep and serious discussion always ensues whenever old bangers are mentioned
Speaking of old bangers, how are you these days Dave?
Bogger, I spent half the day thinking of a smart reply :
The older we get, the more we get like computers. We start out with lots of MEMORY and DRIVE, then we become outdated CRASH at odd moments and eventually have all our parts replaced. Other than that I'm just dandy thanks John!
