Nick, Corin may not share your views but he's made his point in an inoffensive manner. Please moderate your language.

Nick, a little harsh me thinks, Dave Earp is doing a great job, not once have said otherwise and I fully support him it's just a shame that to his own admission he does not get the support he needs to bring the club forward. Dave Earp IS the man for the job and I don't think I could do it any better.
On the basis of your last comment I think I might take the position if it still available, once I find my balls!!

Simon 'Tivs and pasties' what a quality event and hats off to you, if you need any help down in this neck of the woods just give us a shout.

On the subject of R.O.s could I please thank everyone that has emailed me privately in support including two R.O.s

RO's are some of the biggest critics of the TVRCC, ask a committee member, or see the April Dorset report or Steve Powell's contibution. Even I might have offered support if your first reply to me hadn't mentioned The Variety Club Bus's and then assumed that as I was an RO, I had some high horse agenda, and owned a zimmer frame.

I was only surprised the "yoof break away" was doing something which the TVRCC does, ie Goodwood.

You do raise a good point about communications and the success of Pistonheads. There was a discussion (on PH of course) a year or so ago about the future of Print based car clubs, compared with e-based clubs. One example at the time was the first S club heaven, which encouraged me to get my S back on the road, and hence get the Griff
Another recent example was the SOTON AREA trip to Goodwood - The long way. Although a lot of people were people who go to the local TVRCC meetings, there were others who wouldn't be seen dead at a (any) Car Club meeting, although we do similar things to the run or the VW meetings. - beats me!

Now Dave (Ted) is a fine chap and all, but personnally I'd ask Tony Benn's question, "How do we get rid of TED if he goes wrong?" Club's have AGM's. But Pistonheads is now the de-facto general TVRCC e-mail list, because TED has done an excellent job. Perhaps as it pays his pie/optimax bill, then there is more incentive to make sure it continues to be a good job.

One old favourite of classic car clubs is the local show. Personally I can only do (stomach) a local car show once every 5 years, sitting in field with the Allegro/Marina Clubs is not my idea of fun. (and I had an Ital before the S!). So yes I'm sure you get support by saying "lets do something different". Gets my vote!

I was getting confused by the two types of Posts, 'TVRCC needs to be replaced, or competition', and 'the TVRCC RO etc is fine'. Then you posted I tried and didn't get much support. I think if you talk to most long term RO's they will say Yes, been there, got the T shirt. Go Karting can be difficult if you need 8 or so team's of 5+ drivers, just to hire (or cover the cost of) the event. Surrey/Hants did a successful one for 2 or 3 years running, the fourth year -everyone was on hols or something - RO's (not the current ones) left to pay the deposit! (Actually the club covers this, but has tightened the rules; to avoid too many loss making, aborted events.)

Hence RO's ask, what do people want to do? Yes you can make suggestions but you need to build a following. Hants region nearly died last year, after a few years of being underground (no reports in Sprint etc) the regulars then had changes in Jobs, babies, or house moves. Hence this winter has been quiet, but the group is now starting to grow again and to become a club. Now we can start planning to be more adventureous (I hope).

It does appear that there are some personality issues in your local region. I don't think the answer is a new club.

Anyway see you at Wells!

Nicely put Dave.
I am hoping to support both the Hants & W. Sussex areas more this year.
As I said in another thread (to which you replied privately - thanks ) I am a lazy bugger and a lot of these start early on Weekend mornings which is the only time I can catch up on my beauty sleep
I honestly don't believe it is just me though, a couple of afternoon or 'Sunset Runs' I'm sure would boost attendance.
Also location has a part to play, living down here on the Hants/W. Sussex border to travel to Basingstoke or beyond for a meet was always going to be hassle - but then you can't please all the people all the time.

SOTON Area meet was great, lets do some more of those - didn't take up the whole day but got out and about with some other like minded induviduals.

Keep up the good work Dave/RO's you are all mad
