Sorry for (probably) dredging this up.

I am looking for a replacement daily driver, and I've always fancied a 156 wagon, on paper the diesels sound good, but whenever I mention it to people you get the sucking through teeth noise...

These are the same people who told me my TVR would always break down, but in the 3.5 years I owned it, it only once failed to get me home (and that was a rad hose).

Thing is, the TVR was 'the other car' the alfa will be my daily hack, and will need to do about 20,000 miles a year, and it will have to start every morning.

So is it a reasonable prospect????

Cheers Cptn A

Go for it, Alfa diesels are superb and my experiance of Alfas (I've had 5)is that they are very reliable as long as they are properly looked after, preferably by a good specialist.

You've not bought a 2.4 JTD silver wagon have you?

Only there's one just been sold at a Volvo/Mazda dealership near me - looks lovely!
