I spent most of my journey on the M11 fighting the car to keep it on the road, the bloody thing was aquaplaneing and getting caught in ruts and it even managed to get sideways at 60mph in the middle lane. eek

I ended up driving at a gentle 50mph in the inside lane until the road surface changed to a decent surface. I thought it was just me until I bumped into Keith in a service station who told me he had the same problem.

I wrote the MINI off last night on the a14, backwards into the crash barrier, aquaplaned in a tramline and it span it into the barrier frownfrown

Yup, same.

We were the lot whose gazebo nearly ended up on the track. We left Sunday evening, it rained solidly, car felt awful.

Didn't get home till just before midnight as I had to drop one of our lot off in Kensal Green before getting back home here in Pinner.

We're both ok no damage to us at all, but the mini isn't in good shape, although there was no cabin intrusion so i'm impressed with the strength of it.

Ho hum time for a Cooper S i think....

Battled to see a great deal what with all the spray, pitch darkness and the infamous ineffective wipers and lights on the Chim (why is the beam worse than the normal headlights scratchchin ). This and the tramlining on the A11/A14 made for an interesting drive home....concentration levels were high and I don't think I dared venture much above 60 mph! Got home 1.00 a.m. and glad for it yes

Also noticed a few cars abandoned along the A11/A14...mainly at roundabouts!

And was that Paddy I saw at the BP station on the A11 just leaving as I pulled in? We weren't introduced but I was sat opposite you for a while when we were sat at the table near the doors to the marquee....nice porker you got there thumbup I was in the Cooper Green Chim smile

Bloody hell! Glad youre both okay though, good meeting you too biggrin My drive up was fairly uneventful, I left at the back of 11 on monday and got in about 6pm. Although I did end up paying £8.50 for fish and chips from a service station, robbing bastards!

Blimey! I'm glad you're both OK.

We had an awful journey. I've not driven the Elise in weather like that before, and now I know why!

1. Wet brakes on an Elise don't work properly
2. I had to pull out into the outside lane for someone to filter onto the A14 and ended up aquaplaning, plus I couldn't see where I was going because of the spray from a truck in front of me.
3. Once we got off the A roads, it looked like a hurricane had hit Northants and there was all sorts of debris on the road - including leaves that made it really slippery.

We saw two accidents that had already happened before we got to them. A Clio had taken a slip road too sharp and ended up going across the grass. He looked OK, but the car looked like he'd been rallying. And then there was an Almera that had planted itself into a wall after bouncing off a couple of hard obstacles!

slient- glad your both ok.

Crap weather coming back, had to stay awake and keep in the right lane and the surface water of aquaplaneing lucky not too many cars at 9am.

We were doing about 70ish most of the way and that was top limit in my opinion. It amazes me how fast some people drive, a few occasions we were passed by people doing 90+.

I received a text from Marquis_Rex in Belgium that hints he has/had an entertaining drive home. I hope everything went OK from then on. I await his post to this thread smile

I got up to somewhere in that general vicinity once or twice - but it's so individual to the car and the driver, I'd not fancy trying it in some nice twitchy sports car with lovely big fat squashy tyres but my little Micra, heavily laden and running on something only a bit bigger than a bicycle wheel managed pretty well.
