Hi everyone,

I've just read on Car's website that the Cooper S, along with the other models, will come with the "stop-start"technology recently added to the BMW series. as early as September this year. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Basically, i've ordered a Cooper s to arrive late June, but i don't want to take delivery of a car that becomes "obsolete" in less than 2 months! Does anyone know anything?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

It is true...cars from WW31 will have it fitted at no extra cost. Along with enhanced cruise control, and some change to allow use of USB devices. More details on www.mini2.com

I get my car next week...and got informed of chages on the day it finsihed production....so instantly out of date.

Personally for my journey into work it will have little if any effect as I get a clean run... it might be more of an issue in 3 years when I trade my car but I'll deal with that then.

I did not really buy the Cooper S for the economy, it was just a bonus. And coming from a Lexus RX300 to the mini it will feel like it is running on fumes even without the new features.

I ordered mine 10 days ago, should arrive end of June, so i feel a bit miffed really, but the dealer says there's nothing they can do.

They said i can wait til September, but they won't give me the low finance rate they've pre-approved me for, so it'd cost a lot more.

As you say, if you want economy, you could buy the Cooper rather than the Cooper S. Its just nice to have the latest version i guess

Cancel your order then go back to them and see if they'll do the finance deal again. Check with other dealers if they'll match it for an updated car.

They're just trying to scare you.

Do you think? Surely i'll lose my deposit if i cancel and go to another dealership? The rate they offered on a PCP was 3.99% flat, which beats the rate offered by an independent finance guy, so it seems pretty good?

You can cancel up until they start building it (I cancelled 2 orders for my MCS when I was buying and got the deposit back).

I'd check with other dealers first before cancelling but they probably just want their monthly bonus with as little hassle as possible.

Depends on the mood the dealers in tbh, if the car is in build they could well take you to court for the whole price of the car. Plus 3.99% pcp is very good at the rates have just risen by 1%

the new cooper D that came out in april has stop/start anyway, i haven't heard anything more. saying that though there is a write up in the sunday times section in the 'in gear' section which might interest you - this weeks copy by the way if you want to read what it says. i apologise for the poor grammar -i've just finished a night shift. frown
