Right my girlfriend has now decided if she wants a job when we graduate she may need to learn how to drive...

But driving really isn’t her forte.... so she’s after an automatic and what car does she want.. a MINI Cooper

Which tbh other than my feelings of it lacking in power will suit her down to the ground. Its “cute in yellow/white” (apparently), goes forwards and backwards and will play her music while she’s going from home to work wink

Anyway her budget is probably going to max out at 11k. Question is can you find a Automatic Cooper (private or preferable dealer) for that price point which is fairly well spec’d?

Less miles and more options are good as always and being automatic I not to worried that the previous owner having thrashed the car. But are there any weak points of a automatic MINI other than the usual probs which I’m quiet familiar with rolleyes

Also any good examples you know of would be good. Haven’t been into the local dealership just yet but in the next few week I’ll start finding out what they have.

Cheers guys

I assume from the budget you'll be looking at the Mk.1... in which case;

The CVT auto from the One/Cooper has been much maligned for being crude/slow/clunky/etc., but that's only what I've read on the net. A friend of mine whilst looking for has current Mini (a Cooper S) had a go in a CVT Cooper and really enjoyed it. Apparently it's very much dodgem-car-like, and perfect for city and traffic driving.

We bought a '52 plated Mini Cooper in Velvet Red Metallic for my Mum last August. It had 35k on the clock, CVT Auto gearbox, along with the Chilli Pack, as well as Climate Control/Auto Air Con, Xenon's, White Roof/Mirrors.

Cost was well within the budget specified, and it's a hoot to drive, even if not particularly rapid!

It's ashame that she cant stretch past 11k as she doesn't want to borrow to get the MINI.
