more power equals less reliability?
Discussion
hello alfa fans
I have just replaced my shiny 04 Mondeo for an old, but lovingly cared for '99 156 JTD (80000 miles).
First off, I would just like to say what an absolute pleasure to drive the ALFA is . I can't believe the engine sounds so good even though its a diesel. She is so agile and classy compared to the ford. But hey, you already knew that.
My age old and perhaps worn out question is......
Do I get it remapped?
According to angel tuning they can get lots more ponies out of the diesel lump. However, I am concerned that the rest of the car won't be able to cope with the extra 'go' available. Ideally I would like the car to last me for at least 3-4 years. I am familiar with the speculation about what bits are likely to fail, but has anyone got any actual direct experience of reliability problems after a remap? How many years/miles of grin inducing motoring did you get after remapping your 156 diesel?
