Where is the best place to buy wheels for the new style Mustang?

I'm looking for 20's but what width would fit? Also tyre sizes please.

Have I seen 20" Halibrands? or are they only 18's

Got to get the important things sorted first before I order the car.

20 inch wheels are the perfect size any larger and you will touch the wheel wells. We are fitting 255 35 ZR20 Pirreli P zero tyres on the front and 275 35 ZR20 on thback. Worth putting the roush handeling package on as will make it handle much better and drop the car by 1.5 inches.

Also , would they be 8.5" front and back or 10"s.??

Or you can import your own from the US. This is not always a great idea in terms of warranty especially if you want chrome rims as I found out when the chrome flaked off mine and I had to send two back - but other than that it's completely painless especially at $2 to the £ whioch means it's remarkably cheap. Just remember to take account of 3.5% import duty and VAT when doing your calculations. They usually arrive within 2 weeks, often less.

I've got 20 x 9s on the front of mine and 20 x 10.5 out back wearing 275/35 all round which is what the Saleens wear.

I was thinking of going the import route....I imported my Viper wheels from Kinesis in the States......Cost half the money.

Have you got a picture of your car?

After and before - the 20's make the car look chunkier.



There is a whole thread on whels and tyres on www.stangnet.com so you'll get plenty of ideas over there. Quite a few bewheeled S197s on www.mocgb.net too.

Thanks...looks good.

I have noticed that wheels really do change the whole look of the Mustang ...that's why I'm looking at wheels before the car. Couldn't drive it on standard wheels.

There are a couple of photos of wheels on our vehicles on the classifieds page that may interest you. Yes 8.5 on front and 10 on rear. If going on to a shelby be very careful as the brembo font brakes mean most wheels available will not fit !!!!!!! We have done a few sets on Shelby's please e-mial me direct if you would like more details.

The first thing you really have to do is lower it. The stock ride height is just silly. Again, if you look here you can see the difference in the gap using stock (top) and Roush springs (lower) - even though those wheels are bigger, the rolling radius of the two setups is almost identical - another factor you need to bear in mind when selecting tyres:



The design on these wheels actually precludes the fitting of bigger brakes as the curve on the spokes interferes with the calipers, being a dished wheel anyway. So you need to know, as James has intimated, what you want to do with the brakes before you decide on a wheel or alternatively, use a wheel which you know will accommodate a big brake kit so you don't narrow your options too much (as I did - not that it's been too hard to live with as the stock brakes will respond to better pads and I'm not planning on tracking it).

The other thing to bear in mind is weight. Mine are forged and despite being 20's weighed pretty close to the stock wheels helped by the slim 5 spoke design. However, by the time you add on the weight of a set of 275s, you're still looking at an extra 10lbs a corner IIRC. Now many will say that would ruin the ride and handling blah blah but it doesn't, at least not with the Tokico shocks. Just bear it in mind that some of the blingier rims will weigh more than a sausage factory.

That's sound advise guy....appreciated.

I'll need to find a suitable car then buy the rims and suspenders.

Think Shelby is out the window....can't part with the CSL....will have to be a std V8

Go for a standrad V8 then add the goodies as you require them. You will then have a very personalised car. My advise first thing exhaust then power (supercharger). If I can help let me know.

Yes, they are the Shelby Razor's from American Racing's 'Legend Series'.

They have anthracite painted centres with brushed aluminium look rim. They are 20" x 9" in size. Both Front and rear wheels are in the +24 offset size, which takes them right to the wheel arch line. You can get a +12 offset, but this will take wheels past the edge of the wheel arch and will look a little daft.

The suspension is the Eibach Sportline kit. Most people install the Pro-kit, but the Sportline kit lowers the car further and is 20% more uprated than the Pro-kit. In my opinion, the Pro-kit is not low enough. The sportline kit was made for the Mustang!
