Ive been offered an alfa 166 2.5 V6 24V auto realy cheap , BUT its been took on a test drive today by the garage which took it in part x and its driving some what low on power , its been put through diagnostics and everythings ok, all thats been found is a moulded plastic pipe which connects the inlet manifold to the crank case breather is split , could this be the reason for lack of power???? the engine runs ok but its just lacking power ?

Help!!

Are you sure it's down on power? - the 2.5 V6 is no fireball - around 188bhp, with an auto-box in a car the size of the 166 is never going to be that quick.

I certainly wouldn't expect it to be as lively as something like a 156 2.0TSpark.

Its just what im being told so i thought ild be upto speed before im lumbered with a nail. It has been unused for a while so it may be more down to that? Thinking about the pipe it wouldnt make sense that causeing any issues

I have the 3.0 V6 166 and it goes pretty well. There is a lot to go wrong on this car and parts sure aren't cheap. Can you find another 166 for sale nearby to compare performance with? If you are in cambridgeshire you can race me wink
If in doubt, walk away unless it is DIRT cheap.
