confusedHello all'

Can you help? Yesterday after a fault free weekend driving up to London with use in traffic and no overheating problems etc I was heading back to the west country and just as I pulled away from some lights I heard this loud clicking noise which I at first thought might have been some small grit in my tyres being thrown up. However as I carried on a bit further this noise became louder. I pulled off the road and looked underneath and couldn't see anything amiss but when I opened the bonnet it was immediately obvious that the drive belt for the alternator/water pump etc was in mid strip and flailing the surrounding components with shreddy bits.Had to be relayed home and now to replace it. Can anyone advise me if the belt is a special TVR spec or will a LR supplier be able to supply the part? Also the AA bloke said the tensioner does wear and might need replacing if there is play in it.Should I be replacing the belt as a regular consumable bearing in mind its regular exposure to heat?

When you check this what degree of play is acceptable if any and again where do I source this from? [b]The car is a 95N spec w/o power steering with the later engine. Any advice greatfully received.

Thanks John

Hi John,

Just bought both from TVR power part number E2212 @ £12 plus VAT and a new tensioner part no. E2213 @ £55.10 plus VAT. By the way mine has PAS but no AC.

Give them a call, speak to Ray in parts, they are very helpful.

Thanks for your help guys,

I'll try these sources later today. How long does a tensioner last for ? The car has only done 25K miles approx.

Can this please be reposted as an ordinary thread rather than a wiki. Thanks.
