I was under the impression that the Civic Type R did not have a limited slip diff, however it states here that it does:

http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/spec.htm

"Features a torque-responsive, helical, limited-slip differential."

Granted it's not saying that the car is fitted with a plate type diff that would make it a bit of a handful on the road, but can someone confirm whether this is true that the car uses an LSD and does not come fitted with electronic traction control (my pet hate)

As said above re LSD.

The old style (EP3) model has no traction control. The new (FN2) version has VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) although I believe this can be switched off.

Regarding the EP3 "bread van" shape, are good value and effective diffs available for these cars?

Does the lack of a diff cause problems getting the power down effectively in tight corners, especially on track days (chicanes and hairpins for example)

I've driven identical cars (205s) with and without an LSD, and the difference they make is incredible. They really make the front wheels bite and pull the car through a corner.

I've never driven a CTR with LSD so can't compare.

Quite a few have fitted it but they've usually got other mods too.

For a stack of info on it visit www.civictype-r.co.uk/forum then look in the "miscellaneous mods" section and do a search.

Here's a link to a thread about LSD but you need to register, free, before you can read it.

Fitting an lsd to an ep3 makes so much sense, do it and get the power onto the road.

Better still just buy an ITR and get it as standard, and a better looking & handling car to boot...
