I was just about to ask the same question!, now answered.

Are there other differences? bigger brakes, anti roll bars. I am assuming that the suspension id probably fairly similar for a one with chilli and a copper with chilli?

Thx

I asked a similar question last year about the Superchip Bluefin modification for the Mini One, do a search and it may help address your query (I cannot help as the Mini remains standard - for now)

well had it done, not a massive jump in performance, can now hit 50 in second and revs freely up to 5.5 RPM before another cog is needed, used to hit 45, in gear performance better and car seems to drive alot nicer, thought 30 BHP would have been more noticable, but worth the £250

5.5k rpm? try fitting a K&N panel filter, don't worry about any of the CAI kits, they make no difference

No difference between a One and a cooper, apart from the exhaust systems are different and the cooper is tuned to produce slighty more power. Also of course the trim levels are different, you get a lot more for standard or a reduced rate on the cooper.

I think the gear ratios are also different in the Cooper, to give it a more 'sporty' drive..

but they do sound good! that's part of it surely? MINIs are like caterhams and porsches.. an excuse to modify your car a bit without looking a c0ck..!

Fair enough but i saw 7bhp improvement when i fitted a K&N panel filter, and TBH having seen all the problems with CAIs on mini 2 i think i'll stick with the standard airbox, because until your making silly power it's more than adequate

I'm pretty sure they're not as that would add quite a bit more expense to the production of the car, i'm fairly sure they're the same

they may have a different final drive but i am pretty sure they have exactly the same gearing as one another.

i am pretty (but slightly less) sure the one d and coopers have exactly the same box as well.

ones and coopers have exactly the same engine and drivetrain a oneD has the same six speed box as the cooper s as the 5 speed from the one and cooper cannot handle high torque output as pre 07/04 ones and coopers had the old rover 45 midlands gear box after this date they had a 5 speed geratg box fitted

on the CAI debate ive had 2 CAI's on my cooper K&N and pipercross there is no real bhp gain from fitting any filter to cooper pannel or CAI all it dose is smooth the rev range out anyone thinking they will get more then 3 bhp is deluded as there is a great vatiation in the output of a stock mini my car recoreded 130 stock on the rollers at litchefild imports

imo chiping (bluefin) is useless and a waste of money the best solution is a live map done on the rollers as that way its your car mapped to better optimun settings rather than a guess map done to the law of averages

if you whant power do not try the mix and match parts game it will wate you money speak to folk like Roland at GTT who are proper enginiers and can make your car better imo i would simply find a tuner i trust say heres my budget what can you do

Good info but boocks on the panel filter front, i rolling roaded my mini cooper at Surrey rolling road, fitted the panel filter the same day and rolling roaded it 30 mins later and saw a 7bhp increase from 115 to 122 bhp

also i share your view on these 'standard chips' but for a one they're ideal to unleash the 30 or so bhp, OK they wont give you an optimum fuelling but it'll be close to a standard cooper
