How good are these for budget 'Evo' motoring?

Anything to look out for on a secondhand example?

As stated in my other post http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... I am considering one that's £450, £100k on the clock, years mot, plenty tax and described as 'very good condition'.

Good idea or not? How much better is the Seicento if at all?

Thanks in advance smile

You want mine?

It's lighter than a sei with the same power and has independant rear suspension too.

On the downside - the ride is choppy due to the short wheelbase/narrow track and the thing isn't built for longevity. This is my second (yes - I do like them) but I want shot of this one because it's needing work and I'd rather spend it elsewhere. Make me a silly offer and you can have it - I'll let you know exactly what needs doing and how much it'll be. Otherwise I'll give it to my mum and she'll throw it away when the MOT runs out.

Good things.........they are a right laugh - you barrel into corners at silly speeds and the whole thing leans enormously whilst you overtake the lesser mortals in heavier cars. It's a bit noisy inside (compared to 'normal' cars) and the ride is a bit jiggly which isn't to everyones taste. But it loves to be caned and there are plenty of smiles to be had. Everything is responsive - the engine is lively, the steering unassisted and feelsome and the whole thing enthusiastic.

Only just spotted this post! my missus used to have a Seicento Sporing Abarth and it was brilliant. I had an Astra GSi at the time with over three times the power but I always drove the Fiat at the weekends!

I'd go along with that - when my wife had hers, I would have to move it to get my car out of the garage and loads of times I just didn't bother. Cheap and tinny and noisy and not at all fast, but loads of fun.

I had a 96p cinq sporting, bought new. It was universally brilliant, and I still miss it. It was just hilarous, and handled fabulously (low grip, low speed, huge fun). 55bhp has never felt faster.

I just bought one to serve as a fun backup car to my lotus esprit S4. Obviously it's not as fast, but it's a different sort of fun. On roads where 100mph feels like the Esprit is hardly moving, 70mph in a thing the size of a shoe box (and maybe the strength!) is quite scary.

cost 575 quid. insurance 125, road tax 60.

And if you get carried away, you can drop in a 1254cc engine, turbo it and go mental......

have a look at clubcento.co.uk
