Not posted in here before, so hello Irish PHers, just curious how many points you are all sitting on and do you know when the new scamera vans are getting rolled out?
I currently have 4 cry both for speeding, but one will expire in 1 years time ( I think)
Also is there an easy way to check what the date are on a points fine.
TIA

Zero for me too, so far.

Hopefully I'll manage to keep it that way for quiet a while more.

Yet another zero-pointer here.

Obviously, I never exceed the legal limit on public roads, even when conditions would otherwise allow...angel

I must be really lucky, I drive a taxi in Sligo, drive fairly quick, above the speed limit (what bleedin' limit) yet thankfully I've not yet got any points on my licence - thank god.

I suppose the day I do get caught will be the day I'll cop on and slow down.

2 points, expire in a year. And maybe one on the way for a recent bus lane infringement frown.

Driving a vehicle (other than a taxi in course of business or a cyclist) in a bus lane during the period of operation. €60

looks like driving in a bus lane is only a fixed charge offence and doesnt earn you points!!

Had none and got caught twice in a month in March, so four.

120kmph in a 100kmph
81kmph in a 60kmph at 23.55 on a Sunday night enroute from Cork to Dublin in Durrow

...... in Durrow
They followed me from there to Monasterevin one night.

I was driving the Cerbera, obeying the speed limit in Durrow, and spotted them as they pulled out behind me.

I stuck to the speed limits all the way and really seemed to piss them off.

They stuck to my back bumper virtually all the way.

If I'd driven that closely to them I'd have been stopped.

I was surprised they didn't pull me over for something (most likely too much noise).

Anyone have any inside knowledge on what they allow you over the speed limit before you get busted?

I heard one (unsubstantiated) that they gave +10% 'for instrument calibration error'

Could be a big bunch of arse though ...

Hey everyone, Just the 2 for me but its the way I got them, me bombing along on a quiet country road that I know like the back of my hand, very straight, very wide, if a little bumpy. It was late at night and road was empty.

I flash past a gap in the ditch and spot a car out of the corner of my eye didn't think a whole lot of it because there had never been guards on that road as long as I've been driving. Anyway I drive on for a while and I'm coming towards a village so I start to back off and I take it easy going through it. Next thing I know squad car up my chuff blue lights everywhere, I step out of my car and the guard half laughing comes over to me and says we've been after you for the past 20 mins we just couldn't catch you until now, and then the standard lecture (although I have to say he was ok about it)

When I think about it now 2 penalty points for speeding doesn't seem so bad because I knew what I was doing and deserved to be caught.
