Thanks for that. I've bought one as I've had some idle problems over time and it's worth a try at that price, if not that it's bound to be needed at some time with a 12 year old original!

Why are you replacing the stepper motor. It's not a service part is it?
Or are you all having problems with the stepper motors? I know they need cleaning every now and then but I was suprised so many of you are replacing? Makes me wonder whether I should be doing mine.....baa baa baa baaaaa!

Generally they don't fail, however, sometimes they do, and those ham fisted ones among us end up snapping the casing occasionally when taking the stepper out to clean it. Been there, done that.

Seeing as most places want between £50 and £100 for one; at £25 on eBay it's worth keeping one in the tool box "just incase"

I have an intermitant fault which could to be stepper motor related (symptoms seem familiar). As people have said they can be pricey, I think Rimmer Bros charge about 75 quid. At least if I've got a new one its something I can rule our quite easily and I don't mind for 25 quid !!

£25 badly spent - remove the stepper motor all together - one less thing to go wrong hehe

Not so easy. Even if you set the base idle up higher the engine seems to die if you snap shut the throttle. The ECU also generates fault codes if it thinks the tickover is outside parameters after its adjusted the stepper motor, which of course it cant do if you dont have one.
