What sensible upgrades are available and desirable, does anyone know if all/some of the technology from the later cars can be installed - is this really worth doing, what the costs are and what improvements would be seen?

Depends what you want to achieve.

Most people upgrade the clutch to at least an AP organic, some go further and fit paddle type.

UK classics all have open diffs. You can get LSDs for front and rear and I know Cusco do a 35/65 F/R split centre.
Some people install the 6-speed box, but you are adding a lot of extra weight to the front end.

A 6 speed box ill be good if you are going to run hugh torque or BHP. If youa re going to be running 350 or more then you will need a uprated gearbox or a rebuild of the 5 speed with stronger internals!
