Hi all,

I'm putting on an event in Edinburgh in November and need a function hall for the event.

Essentially the event is a black tie ball for around 1,000 people. Around 600-800 of these will require a seated dinner, there will then be around 200 'gatecrashers' who arrive for the party after dinner.

We are at present considering;
The Corn Exchange
The Highland Showgrounds

Does anyone have any other ideas of venues we could consider? Neither of the two above is ideal.

Thnkas,

Johnny

Hi, never been myself but I've been told by a good few people that Dynamic Earth puts on a good night.

Not sure on the numbers they can cater for, although from the good reports a wee look at their website can't hurt.

Hope this is of help to you.

I've been to Dynamic Earth for a function and it was very good, cool setting. Also try the Edinburgh Conference Centre, they were good too.

The Royal Scottish Museum in Chambers Street can also be let for functions. The Royal Highland show is a bit of a barn! I attended a wedding in Edinburgh Castle once, fabulous setting.

Can vouch for the museum - great place, been twice to bashes there.

Your numbers are pretty high so you'll be fairly restricted in what you can get.

Contact the Glasshouse at Eskmills. Owner was chef at Tower and Witchery and is now getting rave reviews for his new place:

As I understand it they've just taken on the Mill next door and will be able to hold that sort of number of guests.
