Well, there goes the Festival of Speed for another year but, as ever, we had a fanastic day (despite the traffic jams on the A27 getting there!).

I'd hoped that GM would have shown the Camaro concept, but alas not. However, it was a nice suprise to see the Giugiaro Mustang concept alongside the Ford GT500 press car in the supercar paddock. To be honest, I was never 100% convinced by some of the aspects of the Giugiaro design but, seeing it in the flesh I have to say it was stunning. Photos just can't relay the gorgeous curves this car has, especially the coke bottle hips. You can't beat natural light to show off a car and it certainly beat seeing it at any indoor event. The fact you could, as with most cars at Goodwood, get close enough to touch was amazing when you consider how valuable the concept must be. To be honest, it made the GT500 parked alongside appear a little dull! If the facelift/redesign of the next Mustang picks up on some of the surface treatments from the concept, it's going to be fabulous. I'd also love them to keep the concept cars interior.......well, maybe not the horse hair seat/door coverings!

Other 'Stangs? Well, there was a Tungsten GT500 in the Toyo showroom and Bill Shepard Mustang's featured a nice '65 (ish) convertible, another Tungsten GT500 and a Grabber Orange GT. The latter sat on some sexy 20" black deep dish Bullitt's. Good to see a smallish Mustang specialist appearing alongside the big boys. Pity I didn't have time to talk to their reps.

I'll post a few pics later.

Cheers all

Hi mate,

Sorry we didn't see you there! But then again, I couldn't believe how busy it was - even though it was Friday! eek

Like you, I was hoping to see the Camaro running, but zero GM presence really. The Giugaro Mustang sounded a lot better than the GT500 too. The Shelby is dull as custard as stock.

Anyway, it was a good day out (even though it's got mega commercial which has spoiled it a bit for me over recnt years).

Yep, even Friday's are mega busy now. Several times we managed to "lose" the friends we were walking around with! I agree it seems a little more commercial than previous years, particulary around the cricket pitch. There are more "non-car" related retailers there.........but then I 'spose the idea is to have something for everyone. Mrs Twin Turbo loves the "Hi-Ho Silver" tent and one of our other friends usually can't resist the handbag sellers. Still, Twin Turbo Jnr bought me a great Father's Day pressie........a large framed photo of Steve McQueen taken from the Le Mans film, the shot of him sticking two fingers up! Very cool and now hanging on the living room wall smile

It's still a cracking event and we will always attend. Next up, the Revival!
