M Series Wheels

Need some 15" wheels for the S Turbo, not for normal use, for competition only (not wishing to create a hound or anything you understand . Would like some SE style compomotives (but 15s) or 5 spoke revos.

Anyone got any ideas on a good source and the off-set to run without fouling arches etc......GAJon?

For my 5000M I used 6 x 15 Compomotives Minilites ET6

Part Number COMML1560ET6 from Demon Tweeks

Thanks for that Chris, but I need something shiney ( abit of alloy to poloish) car is normally fitted with Wolfrace slot mags. Silver wheels don't seem right on the S's I seen but curioulsy look ok on the Ms...not figured that one yet.

It didn't Ian, and I dont think they look like a period wheel - which is what I want. Nor do I want to spoil the ride for the short period the bigger wheels are fitted.

If you are going to keep the car (which I'm sure you will - this time!!) then I would seriously consider 16's as the availability (and choice) of 'sticky' rubber in 15's is already starting to diminish.

The wheels on eBay, if they were Wolfraces then it would have Wolfrace stamped on the rim, since they don't have this then they are probably Cobra Superslots

Hi John, nice to talk yesterday...rain stopped play! or I think that is what killed the signal...I rememebered I have some 15 inch wolfrace in storage and I will check the sizes later (as they might be only 6 inch)

Hi John, my Turbo has the solid 5-spoke revolutions on - very strong and I think they look pretty nice on the car. The rears are 7 x 15" and allow me to run 225/55 Toyo R888's. I've had to put slightly longer studs on along with a 3/8" spacer as the extra width is taken up by inset and, whilst OK at normal ride height, there was the very minor risk of contact between the spring and inside rubber wall at full drop. Even with these spacers on they fit quite nicely under the standard arches.

The fronts are 6" allowing me to run 205's, but these need 1" spacers and long studs to give the standard M series track. No doubt if you ordered a set you could specify what you wanted (I bought mine secondhand and couldn't change them obviously).

Thanks Stuart, and all others. I am currently looking at some 15 and 16 inch Image wheels that look very much like Wolfrace.

The next problem is offsets as I'm not sure I want more that 205 rubber....

If however...I went for 225 50 x 16, are there any gurus that would know the correct offset without the need for spacers to avoid clashing inward or outward! Tyre circumference is ever so slightly smaller and R888s are available in this size.

Mr B..this way I get 16s but they look like wolfrace (and you got what you wanted in any case so should be happy)

I know its a personal opinion but I think that the wolfraces would look daft in 16" whereas spoked wheels such as the 5 spoke revolutions, or even the compomotives (as fitted to Leon's old car) seem to retain that period feel and look better.

I had the Revolutions on the Taimar, 7J x 15 on the front and 9J x 15 on the rear, I ran 205/55 on the front and 225/50 on the rear, the narrowest tyre I could get on the rim! I bought the rims s/h and it required a 19mm spacer up front with some Venny long bolts, but the rears just bolted straight on.

It generated an enormous amount of grip and you could really lean on the car when cornering, however in the wet it was a bit tricky and when they did want to break loose, it all happened rather quickly, much more like a modern TVR, whereas the 195/70 14's the car would slide about and be recoverable from lurid angles.

Thanks David, still exploring and you may well be correct!

Waiting for some info from GAJon that may help decide the final direction.

Here is what I did about offsets when buying my new wheels. I ended up with 205 wide rear Khumo Extas which fairly effectively taimed the 350 Hp Ford V8 in my 5000M. The tyres don't last long but because they are all the same width I can swap front to back after a track day.
