Now I've sort of worked out how to do it I thought some of you may like to see some old photos of Gerry Marshall from the mid '60s in the Barnet Motor Company TVRs. Enjoy.

Hello Gregor,
Hey is it true that the TVR Tina was named after your sister?

Yep, very true. Dad and Martin Lilley were very good friends at the time, Dad being Martin's Sales Manager at Barnet Motor Company. Martin and Arthur Lilley had to buy TVR when his racecar was being repaired at the factory and TVR went into adminstration, so they left Dad to run Barnet Motor Company and the "Tina" was already an idea at the time an idea and they decided to name it after Dad's daughter who was born in '66.

Tina is currenly having the coupe restored, hopefully in time for Rockingham, and has had numerous conversations with the man in the USA who owns the convertible. If you've not seen it already, look here http://www.gregormarshall.co.uk/id24.html

Great site. I have a photo I took of the Tina coupe when I visited the factory in about 1978, very dusty (and predictably in a corner) but all the metallic blue paint was intact. I can't seem to upload pics onto PH so send me an email via my profile and I'll email you the pic.

Neil, I've actively been pursuing this through the official channels and this morning I got a response from Peter Duke. He was very complimentary about Dad and recalled a story of his father Geoff having a road race with Dad from the South of France to Calais, Geoff in an Alfa and Dad in a Magnum/Firenza and the fun they had!!
Anyway, he would love to do a DVD but does not think it will be possible due to copyright/financial issues. I will go back to him, as I am happy to trace the companies who have the copyright, as long as he primes me with the right questions to ask but if there is a cost too then it probably won't happen, I realise Duke have to make money too. Peter has said he will look into it further anyway though and I will update again as and when.

So, at the moment something official doesn't look promising; I'll just have to work out how to do it myself and produce underground copies instead, off the record obviously!!

I have told you before Gregor. I would love some Copy footage of your dads exploits. Just let me know where to send the cheque for your trouble. Bye the way. I think the photo of your dad and Tony on His website is fab and I would love to screen print it on the back of the griff when it is finished along with the famous phrase "only.... " you know the rest.

Any chance of a High res copy?

Neil.

I know, I just haven;t got the technology to do it myself yet, sorry!!
Glad you like the picture of Tony and Dad, I did have it in my bedroom but I felt like they were watching me, so I've put it in my office now!! I can lend you the original photo and you can get it scanned at whatever resolution you want or I can try and work out on my scanner how to make it a better resolution, whichever suits you best, I trust you!!

Rather than Risk the postman Gregor I can arrange to borrow it from you at a race meeting. Are you planning to attend the TVR club Rockingham Doo? if not I will borrow it nearer the time next year when the car is due to roll out.

Neil.
