M series handling
Discussion
Hi,
Been driving my Scimitar around (after a lenghty restoration!) recently on fast B roads and been impressed with the handling the only thing that lets it down is power steering which has too little feel or self centering action. However the general feel of the car at speed is excellent.
Meanwhile my Taimar awaits me having time to crack on with it. Had a look underneath it & the suspension set up seem quit sophisticated for a car of the age. The wishbones do seem a bit weedy compared to the cast iron ones on my Scimitar!
How do these cars handle compared to a modern cars and are there any must do chassis/suspension mods?

These cars handle beautifully as designed. Modern tires are sooooo superior to anything available in 1975. That's the first place to gain an advantage. Look at what pieces are worn out beyond your liking and replace those parts with upgrades if you are willing to accept the tradeoffs. Must do susp. mods depend on what kind of behavior you are aiming for. Urethane bushings +/or springs/shocks will tighten up the suspension feel but also make for a harsher ride.
Have fun,
Bernard.
