Could anyone measure it please ?

Following my previous post, could someone with a 96 Chimaera and a measure please tell me the width (with mirrors) of the car. I'm not buying this 1865mm inc mirrors. I'd be very appreciative.

As you noted before, what you need to know is can you get out of the car once you've driven in, so perhaps what you should be asking is "What's the (internal) width of the garage that you keep your Chimaera in?"

I think Garage doors are fairly standard width, you can drive in, but opening the door with out hitting the wall is tricky. Most people will have carpet on the wall to help! Of course the passenger will have to get out before hand! Unless sir has a Motorhome!

Don't worry with a small primus stove, a bed pan and a tubed supply of liquid food (guinness) who needs to get out of the car. Rent the house out get extra income as well.

Why not buying? Those are the figures from the factory (who ought to know if anybody does) and have been quoted in the bible (and I know Steve checks these things very carefully). Plus they sound about right to me.

1865mm is correct. I checked measurements before buying mine as I have a narrow driveway. I bought a '99 model but the later ones aren't any fatter than the earlier ones.

My garage has a 7ft (2135mm approx) opening and the internal width is 8'8" (2630mm approx). Door opening is relatively easy with the car in the middle of the garage, but you need carpet or foam on the wall to prevent scratching the edge of the doors.

OK I've just gone & measured mine (2000 model) I come up with 1890mm from tip of mirror to tip or mirror, although I could see that if you had the mirrors in a different position, you could probably take 30mm off that width.

Once again your help has been of value. The reason this point concerns me is that the factory figs show the Griff as bigger yet everyone tells me the Chim is bigger. I just wanted to be sure. You see, not only do I want to ensure it fits in the garage, but my wife want's to drive it too - and as with all women, size matters (see scratched mirrors on both sides of my other car). Yes, I know what you're thinking, a woman in control of a V8 ? THAT'S the bit that keeps me awake until 3.30am

I think that generally peaple say the Chimaera is bigger because it is a fair bit longer (& has a bigger boot)

I recently bought a 96 Chim and was worried.... would she go in the garage? I have a stupid garage that isn't much wider than the door opeing.

I measured the garage and compared to the figures published for the Chim and all looked ok.

I do get my car in the garage but have to be over to the left, just miss my mirror going in and then have a squeeze to get out of the car.

Is this why you are worried??

I'm a small guy and could imagine someone bigger having real problems. If I had any further problems I would take the roof off (not that practical I know) and climb out!
