Not the easiest of things to remove.. Couple of quick tips.. (ok, its really a plea for ideas.

Remove the glove box, couple of bolts, one either side and it drops out. I ended up cutting all of the ties that held the wiring and fuses so they fell out of the way, everything was attached to the motor itself. Then with the aid of a 10 mm spanner, you might just have access to the bolts holding the retaining strap, (I've big hands and it was a squeeze). Its a very good idea to put something on the other side of these to stop them rotating freely. Open the bonnet and you will see two bolts on the engine bay side of the bulkhead. Trust me, far more progress made if you hold these in place..

Its probably also a good idea to not drop the only 10mm spanner you own in between the footwell and the outer bodyshell, (like I've just done - there is a gap just big enough to do this). Can't see any way of getting it out. Any ideas anyone? Horseshoe magnet on a length of string seems about the only option.. Anyone know if this gap runs right back the length of the sill? At least I'll have one rattle I know the origin of..

At this stage I thought I'd see if the wipers themselves move over the screen easily, (if they don't for some reason, this could be why things have burnt out). Half a dozen passes of the screen by me wiggling the wipers then they seize up.. Reckon the drive needs attention. Again any ideas folks? Replacing the motor might be an option, (figured that may have burnt out), but if the motor has gone because of the drive, then I'll be back to square one in no time.. Having taken it off, the motor looks ok..

If all else fails, I've just rain-x'ed my screen..

hi mate sounds like you are having fun
getting the rack off might be the easy part if i have read correctly isnt the rack from a left hand drive calton so finding a replacement might be harder than pulling the old 1 off
good luck
(rain x sound a better idea )
