One of my customers has just informed me that WRC are no longer trading - does anyone know if this is fact or fiction?

Not that you'll prob lose much sleep over it, but yes, i read a post
from the MLR yesterday saying that they have stopped trading.

I know no more than that.

Poor form Colin for you to be the first in line asking about a competitors demise.

You're right Glenn, I won't lose any sleep since they certainly did not do me any favours, but I might put in a bid for the dyno if the liquidators are selling the assets.

Gloating, and looking to 'make' something out of a sad set of circumstances are hardly doing you any favours!

I did wonder about asking first as it seemed strange that nobody else had mentioned it before me. I was actually shocked when I heard the news but after thinking about it a bit more I am not surprised, given the obvious large investment made to equip their facilities allied to the relative difficulty of making money from this crazy business. I certainly do not wish any ill on Alan and the guys even though I imagine the same could not be said if the boot was on the other foot.

FWIW, I didn't read it that way - although I suppose there may be history that I'm not aware of.

I know Allan at WRC/Weltmeister vaguely from when he used to own an S2000 and post on a forum that I moderate. He always struck me as being a decent, straight guy so I'm sorry to hear things haven't worked out.

I don't know any more than the fact they are not trading and was hoping that someone would explain what happened rather than being seen as gloating. It's obviously not doing me any good but if someone could explain what happened I would appreciate it as it is fairly important news given that their facility was seen as pretty much the industry standard (certainly by EVO magazine). No more to add, thanks.

Sadly WRC have ceased trading, pending liquidation. This will not be a short process. However for the encircling carrion sadly most of the equipment on site is rented in from another company of mine, so there will be meagre pickings for the carrion.

I will not get personal here but I have never knowingly cast aspertions on any competitor however heresay is a fantastic medium and I will no doubt have been quoted as saying something somewhere that never actually left my lips.

It is a difficult time and I would not wish it on anyone, I ask for no sympathy we all know the risks involved when we start these things. However to almost quote Arnie " I might be back"
With that I would like to thank all the people who did support us, thank all of the suppliers who worked with us and to all the competitors I hope you are more fortunate than I was.
Cheers

Respect to you Allan for letting us know from source, I sincerely hope that everything works out for you.

As for carrion, everyone who knows me well would know that my comment would have been made with tongue in cheek. As an engineer first and businessman second, I have always looked at your facility with envy given that the chance of me actually finding the cash to spend £100k on a similar dyno facility is pretty close to zero.

All the best and thanks for coming out to talk.

Well I guess if there's some history it could be a gloat. Just sounded to me like business, but then I suppose if it was that it'd have been a private approach.

Allan,

I'm very sorry to hear the news. When I saw you at Silverstone the other day during F1 testing, I had a sense that not all was well. Keep your chin up, and I hope the next steps are as painless as they can be. Good luck for the future and keep us posted.
