ANY BODY USED A NON BMW ADAPTER FOR THEIR I-POD'S? - I HAVE THE SAT NAV - WHICH WILL ACT AS A I-POD SCREEN WHEN ADAPTERED - BMW WANT £350 FOR BASICALLY A WIRE - WOULD AN AFTERMARKET WIRE ANABLE THE I-POD TO FUNCTION ON THE SCREEN OR WOULD I NEED TO BY THE RIP OFF BMW ONE???

To be fair the BMW one isnt cheap but compared to the old one which was about £50 cheaper an didnt do half the stuff its a steal, works really well with the top toggle wheel, I take it this if the R56 if so your dealer is having a laugh at £350, i know a dealer thats doing them for £270

And.... if you get something aftermarket you still need a dealer to program your satnav to accept.

I paid £250 to get the iPOD kit fitted to a non-satnav R56.

thanks - if i get hold of the lead - will it require a bmw person to fit it, or is it a simple install? - think i could get it cheaper from a mini dealer in spain (have family there)

I heard you had to take the dash out to get acccess to the back of stereo to plug it in...

Plus still needs the dealer to program it for the lead to work.

I don't believe it is something that you can do yourself, you really need to take it to a dealer.
