Ive completely rebuilt my front callipers with new seals and pistons and the ba***rds are still sticking on on one side. Given LeMands is only two weeks away Im considering purchASING SOME NEW/recon ONES AND BRAIDED HOSES . . . . .anyone recommend a sensibly priced supplier who'l send em out quick ?

thanks . . . .I changed my engine and cluth this weekend so it goes well, stopping in a straight line would be useful too !!!

When mine stuck I bought some rubber lubricant spray from Halfords (I think it's mean't for rubber channels that the side windows go up and down in) and used a nozzle with a pipe from a can of WD40 to spray it through the dust seals round the calipers. I then put a brake pad in on one side of the disk and got someone to hold a large screwdriver on the other side while I applied the brakes and pushed the piston out. Make sure to tell the person holding the screwdriver not to let the piston come out too far and then get them to lever it back in. I repeated this 10 to 15 times and then did the same with the other piston. I've had no more problems.

I would have thought Adrian Venn or David Geralds would have exchange calipers if yours are still stuck (no pun intended ).

callipers Ive rebuilt . . . .simple, classicarauto supplied new pistons (£9each) and a seal kit. (01625860910) they sent them out same day and I had them next day.

the problem is the flexible hoses now, I think! they wont release so I reckon a hose has collapsed internally . . . .you can force fluid through with the pedal, but it wont release . . . .if you crack a bleed nipple it releases the calliper instantly . . . .its just on one side.

at least I wont have to touch the brakes for a few years now !

I fitted braided hoses 11 years ago on mine and they made quiet a difference.

I've just fitted a set to my 3000S as I had one side that wouldn't bleed (very little fluid came through) but I still had the problem after I fitted them as a piece of the old rubber hose had come off and got stuck in the brake line.

You can get braided hoses from Adrain Venn and DGS.

I hope they sort your problem.
