Will post more tomorrow but a MASSIVE congratulations to Leon, the new crown prince of Vmax with a truly INCREDIBLE 207MPH.

This was laser verified many times.

interestingly when Leon did 207mph, his speedo was showing 210MPH, on his last run of the day when the timing beams were switched off we went through with the digital readout showing 212mph so, 208, 209 ? ? who knows, all i know is short of concorde, i've never been quicker, well done that man.

oh, good work Alois too wink

Unless someone brings a Veyron I reckon this is unbeatable.

Congratulations Leon and your VMAX obliteration.

Congrats on a great speed & new Vmax record. Anything over 205 is a real achievement & only a select few can achieve it.clap

However its by no means un-beatable.
If can get an invite would love to come & have a crack at that record & try to push it beyond 210, the two cars there on the same day would be a real battle again congrats to Leon, Vmax has come of age....

Can I ask Leon if he is at totb this month that will be a real battle over the standing mile.

Many Congrats to Leon, I knew his car would beat my record it was just a case of by how much. Ruf power proves itself yet again! smilesmile And don't forget that this is a standard warrantied production car...........

Guy

PS To those that asked - No I haven't phoned Alois for more power and no I'm not buying a Veyron!

They're not competition if they're too loud. If Leon speed gets bettered by someone within the current limits I'm sure he'll take his hat off to them!

Leon,

Popped into the local Kwik-Fit to slap on some replacement tyres for my GT3 in Temple Fortune.
Guy there was persistent enough to tell me someone with a "Are You Eff" car comes in all the time.

Am I right in assuming he wasn't talking bollox and it was you?

Congrats, astonishing result......to my mind it is even more special that the car is tuned to be road legal.....it may be possible to whack the boost up on a nitroused monster with straight through pipes, but that defeats the object of Vmax as far as I can see wink

Madrod, regretfully i will be on holiday from the 27th but i'll try to make it next year. An Rt12 was tested by autobild magazine recently and reached 186 mph in 0.8 miles (24 seconds) from a standing start on a damp, broken surface.

Whose this 'Lot of competition?' No one before the noise limits was even close to this speed, and Leon's car isn't some straight line nitrous powered special. I wouldn't be surprised if he could drive it everyday for the next 10 years without any problems.

Hi smile

Lol....the competition thats missing ??? How about all the big Ferraris and Lambos...

And out of interest...mine is my daily driver.....I drive it to my office EVERY day...and if mine can pass an MOT with the straight through pipes...then it should be allowed to run at VMAX...they WON that legal battle remember...they didnt lose it....

207 is an amazing feat....and congratulations and I probably would not have beaten it.....but I would have been close....and so would all the other power cars that cannot run because of noise....

p.s....To me the point of VMAX is TOP SPEED....not quiet TOP SPEED...

Yeah but as it has to be quiet, then surely you and MadRod's cars aren't eligible for entry and therefore aren't competition.
I don't want to start an argument either, but he isn't using laughing gas either, and if he did then he'd be on your plane again, and then I'd expect him to comfortably be in the lead again.

Apart from an Enzo no Lambo or Ferrari would come close to 207 at Brunters.

We have had several Murcies there before and all types of Ferari's none of which have been close to 200.

Albert from Club Scuderia has run his F40 there and got a best of about 195 iirc. At those speeds 12 milesan hour extra is a huge difference

The only production cars capable of beating it are McL F1, Veyron and K'egg CCX and until they ever turn up their speed will be guesswork.

The modified cars capable of beating it with proven speeds of this order on runways are MadRods, Keith Cowies and Rocket Ronnies GTRs and Joel's Viper. Joel did 215mph at Woodbridge which is as far as I know the UK runway record. All these cars are highly modified running either nitrous or race-fuel, and 800-1000bhp+. It is unlikely that any could meet the noise requirements however, but that life everyone knows the rules.....

Well said Guy, and Brett I meant Leon isn't using Nitros.

Anyway, this argument is going nowhere, as this thread it to congratulate Leon and RUF on 207mph.

Can't see an F1 having a higher speed in that short space, nor a CCX.

That's very impressive stuff from a standard car.

"then it should be allowed to run at VMAX...they WON that legal battle remember...they didnt lose it....

No offence, but that's ridiculous. They had published noise limits, just like most circuits in the UK. There are always cars out there that "could've been faster if xxx rule wasn't in place", but the rules were in place and the fastest car to those rules won, simple as that. You have to draw a line somewhere - you don't want VMAX ending up like another TOTB do you? smile

Not so, Autocar did 211mph at Bruntingthorpe when they tested the F1.
