the the front wishbone bushes on my 92 Griff look very worn and need replacing question is which bushes are the best and where do I get them from? Also if I were to get them done who is best and how much will it cost me? I may have a go myself, has anyone else fitted bushes themselves and how was it? I have all the tools I will need.....I hope.

Chris.

The current fashion is for polyurethane bushes; I believe they are firmer than the standard ones. Mine were fitted by Offord Motor Co in Cambridgeshire.

I think an alternative is thrust washers, but I'm no shpub so take advice first.

The thrust washers are fitted to stop the bump steer effects through the top wishbones, if you are going down this route shell out on the later 500 style one piece upper wishbones as well, this really transforms the feel through the steering.

Poly bushes are probably the easiest route and also easier to change later if required, but if you change the whole lot the ride gets a lot stiffer and you get more of the road transmitted into the cabin - this is fine for the track but on our infamous potholed B roads can be a bit of a pain.

Steve Howard (Precision racing) prefers the standard bushes with thrust washer (the thrust washer reduces movement and therefore wear in the bush).

Tower View prefer poly bushes.

Mine has the poly bushes because it was rebuilt by Tower View. When Steve say them he tutted and said he'd seen problems due to them being harder than the standards.

We will see but I doubt Tower View would still use them if they had seen any problems.
