After privately buying a fully working TVR Chimaera 4.0 1997, on the journey home the drivers side window failed, of course this is now in the open postion rather than closed!

I've checked the switchgear which appear okay (swapped window switches between the working passenger side window and the failed drivers side - no success). I get the impression that these windows are jointly fused, therefore not a blown fuse either.

Has anybody got any ideas of what this fault could be and how much my wallet is going to be damaged?

Is it just a case of resigning myself to a new electric window motor?

Are you sure it hasn't just stuck in the down position?
TVR windows do have a tendancy to stick in the down position. I've had it happen on my Cerbera and on a Tuscan so I guess it can also happen in Chimaera's.

Quite possibly stuck, I'll give the window a wiggle!
Thanks for your advice.

I was just reluctant to do anything and end up doing more damage - this seems to happen quite easily with my DIY!

Last December (-->cold), the passenger window on my Chimaera stuck down with the door closed. Spoke to my PH pal, Caro, who told me hers did the same thing. "Try it with the door open", she suggested. Strangely, it went up when you opened the door. It eventually sorted itself after a few days and now I have no problems. Definitely a "TVR state of mind" going on here Good luck!!

First try a bit of silicon lube in the runners before more major surgery. The reason the window closes with the door open is simply it has less friction to work against.

Had similar on my old Griff. It was because the cables from the door to the car were rubbing ( causing a short?) where they touched the door when the door was opened.
Before getting it fixed properly, just wiggling (technical term) the cables around a bit often fixed the problem.
