Hi All,
I have been trying to find out where you can get the stick on front reg plates that I have seen on some 911's . Some are smaller than others. Anyone on here purchased one ? What about the legality of the smaller ones ??

Thanks James

Hiya James,

Take your plate into any reputable signwriter and they'll be able to make you up a stick-on with the pukka reflecto stuff easy as pie.

If you want it scaled down, they can do that easily too.

As regards to legality, basically if it's not an official issue plate, it's illegal. Having said that, I've got a stick-on on the Elise that's about 1/2 sized and the car's never had a mention from the coppers in over 8 years. Will be getting the same on the Exige when it arrives.

They're not too picky about the front plate to be honest, although if your rear plate isn't a proper one, expect to be pulled up for it. Especially if you have a car where fitting a standard issue front plate is a bit of a hassle, you should have no worries.

That's your GTO-3R? I wasn't aware that there were any blue ones in NZ, looks gorgeous. Are there still only two of the Nobles in NZ or are there more now ? smile Oh.. and can I please have a ride sometime?

George.

None of them are legal . . . but in my experience, whether you get pinged depends on how much effort you went to to get a reasonable copy made.

Mine is full-sized and reflectorized (not just a white background)

Got it made by the local SpeedySigns shop.

If you need to get a smaller one try to stay as much "in keeping with the spirit of the original plate" as possible. That's what I'd tell the nice cop anyway tongue out

Thanks for the reply guys. George , I have not updated my profile recently ! I sold the Noble whilst it was in storage in the UK, unfortunately. We did'nt know where we were going to live and it made sense to sell as I had a good offer onit. I have just bought a 997 C2S ( hence my question on the plate ) I only got it last weekend and haven't taken any pics yet ! There is a silver Noble in Chch ( the one that lotus NZ had for sale for ages ) How long before you get that lovely Exige ??

Cheers
James

Hi James,

Aah ok, thought it looked like England in the photos... I'm a bit of a Noble fan (aren't we all? smile) and I didn't know of that one being in NZ, hence my piqued curiosity smile

Aah C2S... cracking car by all accounts smile How have you been finding it?

As for the Exige... I'm hoping to take delivery in about 6 weeks smile As I said, will be making a plate up for her when she arrives, although will be driving for a few weeks without a front plate because I'll need to measure up before I get one made up.
