96 with new engine from jaguar in 2004 having covered 28k miles.

Had the conversion done 3 weeks ago by an excellent company in Exeter (gaspoweruk.co.uk) and have completed 1000 miles of driving.

Absolutely no problems (no loss of power or problems at changeover either way)

76lt donut tank instead of spacesaver so still keep level load boot with no loss of space

Extra urban it averages around 360 miles on a £23 fill up.

Prinz Sequential Vapour Injection System, system cost £2000+VAT with 2 yr parts and labour warranty.

There may be an article in Jaguar World Monthly (Oct)

Believe me when I say I contacted around 8 conversion specialists and the company used was by far the most professional and friendly.

Mark

Hi there,

I have a 61 litre donut tank in my xtype 3 litre it has a brc conversion from green fuel company in bath runs perfectly, incidently the garage had an xkr in being converted!! i don't understand how you manage 360 miles on 23 quid of gas unless you are getting gas at less than 30 pence a litre! I getting 200 miles on 22 pounds at the moment in my xtype.

Should have read 260 miles at the time but the system was bedding in and has since improved.

Strangely I did a 350 mile run to London and back last week and the LPG ran out at 305 miles, it then cost me £22.40 to fill it up (I buy at 40ppl inc tax) so that worked out to 58.2 MPG by my calculations (e.g had I covered the same mileage at the same cost on unleaded at 94ppl). I do know of 3 places in the west midlands where LPG is less than 35ppl though (although at over 100 miles from me not worth me driving there to fill up)

Yes I drive very lighly, so much so that the trip comp (which still calculates for unleaded) read 37.4 on one way of the trip and 34.3 over the whole 350 miles. Due to ave speed checks, roadworks and speed restrictions my average speed was 59MPH

My car is slightly non-standard as I've taken all possible steps to improve economy such as:

1) Fitting a straight through exhaust (doesn't bend over rear axles)
2) Running with Royal Purple fully synthetic
3) Having had the car auto-rx cleaned
4) Having had a motor-vac carbonclean (top end fuel system)
5) Having cleaned and calibrated injectors fitted
6) Replacing the standard air intake with a bespoke Apexi system
7) Running nitrogen in correct pressure tyres

I just did the same 350 mile journey returning early ours yesterday morning

Ext air temp 12 degrees C

LPG ran out at 315 miles

This would work out to an equivalent of just over 60 MPG but LPG price locally has risen by 3ppl (from 40p to 43p) and at refill it took 56 litres.

So still 58.2MPG on a cost basis

Remember that whilst I have a 76l tank it can only be filled to just under 60l, and when it gets close to empty there is insufficinet pressure to drive the system, which switches back to unleaded.

I think now that the average petrol price is closer to 98ppl redface(
But still half price motoring even taking into account the lower MPG per litre/gallon due to the lower calorific value redface)
