I drive an 06 WRX and the brakes are fried. Since i have to relace the discs and pads i thought i would replace the whole system with Brembo's from a new or almost new Sti. The only trouble is i cant find any. Can anyone help??

Cheers,
Ian

I've got a pair of front discs off an MY06 STi sat in my garage gathering dust at the moment. Any use?

How have you managed to "fry" yours? Track or just high spirits on the local B-roads? biggrin

I won't be the slightest bit offended if you're a little dubious of the offer seeing as this is my first ever post on Piston Heads....I'd feel the same! I can assure you it's pure coincidence. smile

By the way hello everyone! wavey

CW 42, iv missed them, but thanks for the heads up, im gutted!!

Rill, welcome to the forum mate! Not sure if the disks alone will fit with the WRX callipers, and i wanted to replace the whole system with Brmbo's since im paying the labour to take them off. Cheers all the same.

The car never goes on the track, but i have been on a couple of scoobynet and PH runs through Brecon. Its not high speed stuff but lots of twisties so the brakes take a bashing.

No worries....

What sort of price are you looking at paying in total for the Brembo upgrade? Have you considered a set of 6-pots? Don't get me wrong the Brembos are good, especially with uprated discs and pads, but a decent set of 6-pots is better! wink

Have a look here mate.

Iv got a budget of £600 for the full set front and back. Just missed a full set on Scoobynet for £450!!

6 pots would be nice but out of my price range.

on the wrx you will have to change the wheels to fit the larger brembo's inside... the 4 pot subaru calipers that the wrx has sits very close to the wheel spokes.... need wheels with a larger offset.... add that to your brake budget.

There are some caliper profiles on the AP Racing website in .pdf format here and here which you can print, cut out then use to check caliper size against wheel size.

Very useful indeed! wink

New wheels are already sorted. I have replica 18" WR1 wheels on the car so the Brembos should fit behind them nicely.

Not today, but i am meeting a local lad tomorrow who has just replaced his Brembo's with AP's. Hopefully they will be in good shape, i know they have only covered 16K so they should be!

I will let you know how i get on.

thumbup we like bargains! brakes are one of the best mods that you can make to a car imo. you can spend all the money you like making the car go faster, but what's the point if you can't slow down to get round a corner? wink
