Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a little problem. I was changing the fuel sender unit gasket today as I had a small leak. While I was doing it I noticed that the fuel filter was loose and held on only by the two petrol pipes. On closer inspection it seems that the bracket that should hold the fuel filter in place has broken off. Problem is I can't see any obvious place where it broke loose from. Does anyone know where the fuel filter on an S3 is supposed to be connected to?

Also, while I'm fixing it I may as well change the filter. Can this be done without fuel peeing all over the garage floor or do I have to drain the tank? I have very little fuel in the tank at the mo as I was changing the fuel sender unit so I'm hoping I can get away with just swapping a new filter in pdq.

Thanks Ralph

I,ve just been going through a similar exercise on my S3, my filter is mounted on the end of the diff mounting bracketry with a single M8 nut and bolt.I reckon if the fuel in the tank is low enough you should get the filter off, but quite a lot of fuel is held in the filter itself so be prepared for a soaking.Hope you don't have the same problem as I seem to have, after changing the hose from the tank to the pump-the pump no longer works?? Next job - new pump?
Good luck
Steve.
