Hi

Please can someone help with an engine problem.

On start-up the engine sounds lumpy. If you give it a bit of throttle sounds like it is not running on all cylinders, after about two for three minutes. The engine sounds fine and runs great. Even after a run and then leave the car for a while and start it again with out Choke it still does it!

It has only started to do this in the last couple of months

I have replaced the gaskets and diaphragms of the Carb it has new HT Leads and Distributor sparkplugs are new and spaced correctly.

Help

38 DGAS..... Check the float level 52mm at full droop and 40mm closed needle valve...and if you have the pneumatic diaphagm on the passenger side of the carb pull the vacumn pipe off and check for fuel, as that will run the carb at 9% CO if it is leaking. As a pointer the idle screws base setting is screwed in then equally out 1.5 to 2 turns and THEN the IF one is screwed in it HAS TO close the engine down, if it does not then the carb is scavenging fuel to allow it to run, and this has to be found and cured.

If you are running standard points ignition, did you consider the condenser being on it's way out? You would probably also notice a misfire under load (eg accelerate in high gear) if it was failing iirc.
