I'v had to take my new disco back to the Land Rover dealer with a list of faults. Mainly steering problems and trouble with 1st gear. They say they can fix it and have given me a new disco to drive around in until its done. Let you how it goes later.

Hi Graham. This one only has 450 miles on the clock when it went back with these faults.

1.Steering wheel off centre.
2.Vehicle pulls to the n/s.
3.Over bumps you can hear a knocking from the steering column.
4.Scratch marks on the inner trims panels in the boot.
5.Bonnet alignment poor.
6.Tailgate alignment poor.
7.Side mouldings coming off.
8.Sill mouldings are tight by the bottom of the rear doors.
9.Dash and interior plastics feel rough to touch and leave a deposit when cleaning.
10.One of the kegs is bent.
11.Steering has play in it.
12.Vehicle tracks.
13.Wind noise above drivers head.
14.Some times difficult to get 1st gear when stopped.
15.White mark on dash will not clean off.

I haven't done anything about rust revention before. My last disco I sold before it was 2 years old so rust not a problem. Hopefully I will do the same with this one.

Is yours all OK? What modle do you have?

Blimey that doesnt sound good...

mines up to 600 miles now ( since monday night !!!) thats quite a lot of miles for me... in a few days...

So far all seems ok, just a screw missing from the sun visor !!! and 2 coin holders rather than a coin holder and an ash tray ??

I've got a 2003 spec TD5 Commercial in silver with climate, exterior pack, rear air sus, tow pack, roof rails and alloys. I took one they had in stock at landrover rather than wait to fully spec one.. reading the labels when it was delivered it was built at the end of Feb, it had 5 miles on the clock then and 20 when i picked it up 3 days later..

i've got cruise and sat nav to come later..

I think i got a storming deal paying 19k plus vat for that little lot. the importers either didnt quote or were only a few hundred less with a 4 month delivery.

The only down side is that its a diesel as they dont do the commercial with a V8, but hey i can always chip it

Graham: cruise can be easily retrofitted to the TD5 apparantly ... only cost you about 50 quid IIRC. I can dig out the details if you like.

Jon: Time for a rejection of yours I think!

Seriously reject that "Friday" Disco ... It upsets me to think that they just push rubbish out the door and ten expect you just to get on with it.

unfortunatly its a land rover and no day of the week on the production line is going to change it.Although i did think about suggesting that everyone be served beer and spirits whilst on shift. Why not,it would'nt effect build quality and at least it would be a good day at work.

Mines gone back on a low loader too, just jumped in it to move it on friday, -no clutch, the pedal had dropped as far as possible to the floor, OK i thought cables come off/snapped, but no it has an hydraulic clutch, so back it goes a week out of warranty, with the answer,
Me;"its a week out of warranty, but it spent more than that time back with you on at least two occasions"
Bloody british workmanship now theres a contradiction in terms.

I was against this one from the start
(oh yes i was) but got talked into it, but then i've also had Daihatsu, and even Landcruiser go horribly wrong, and the UN run literalry hundreds of them all over the place apparently without probs, so it good old luck of the draw really
