i can send you a tube, it's expensive though .. i use the 221 which is th slow setting version, the quick setting version sets too quickly and isn't as good a finish. think it's about 14 quid a tube plus postage .. but it does last for ages.

Just about everything, Windscreens, but leaks mainly. Anywhere you would use normal silicon to seal a hole or rivet head etc where water can ingress. It is a silicon base but IIRC, it's a low modulus and sticks like sh1t to the proverbial.

Comes in about 4 colors and I think there is a marine version as well.

You CAN get it at Part co. the Worthing branch sells it.
Prices do vary according to source and type.

It ain't cheap, but it is good!

Whist we are talking Sikaflex, has any one ever used this to re-seal the plastic headlamp covers on a Griff! How easy is it? Any tips to get a good neat finnish. My Griff has had one done and its a right dogs dinner! It needs to be done again. Is it a job to be left to an expert?

Marine grade stuff is silicon based, so you can't paint over it

Sikaflex and tigerseal (similar) are polyeurothane, you can get ehn at any body shop suppliers

Yo incorrigible .... is this where I pop in and do my spiel about the quality of the marine grade stuff listed above!! I think this must be the third time we've done this. I used it to reseal the Tamora windscreen just last weekend ... and still I get condensation !!

Not yet ....

I am a little worried though, should I wish to paint my windscreen the silicone based products will have been the wrong choice

Not if you're handy. I did this on my old Griff because, like yours, the existing job looked poor and I wanted to change the covers for smoked ones. I got all the bits from Tower View. It took me about half a day, an assistant and a pair of trousers! I needed a wedge (wood, not Tasmin) to hold the covers in place from underneath while the sealant sets, and then you try to put a nice bead of sealant round the cover from above. Wet finger for smoothing and have lots of kitchen roll and meths handy for the inevitable tidying up.

Incidentally, there's a very smart red Griff in May's Sprint which seems to have clear sealant round the headlamps. Much nicer. Wonder if it's the usual black stuff underneath though? Might dig mine out and use clear stff where it shows. Thoughts anyone?
